ST. LOUIS -- Catherine H. Malear has been named senior vice president of human resources for UniGroup, Inc., the parent company of United Van Lines, Mayflower Transit, and other transportation-related companies. The announcement was made by Richard H. McClure, president of UniGroup.

"Cathy has a impressive background in human resources," said McClure. "Her experience and knowledge will augment our existing internal capabilities as we maintain and expand our emphasis on becoming a higher-performing organization."

In her new capacity, Malear will oversee ongoing HR functions and serve as a strategic partner in advising senior management in strategic areas such as organizational performance improvement, management development, human resources process design and succession planning for UniGroup’s management team. Malear brings more than 20 years of experience as a senior human resources professional to UniGroup. Prior to joining the company, she held progressively responsible positions at other organizations including General Electric, Allied Signal, Rockwell, and ING financial services. Most recently, she managed the human resources function for Huntington Bancshares, a large Midwest regional bank based in Ohio.

Malear holds a bachelor’s degree from Southern Illinois University – Edwardsville. She has recently relocated to the St. Louis metro area.
