ST. LOUIS – David R. Pile has been named Senior Director of Operations Services for UniGroup, Inc., the parent company of United Van Lines, Mayflower Transit, and other transportation-related companies. The announcement was made by Richard H. McClure, president and chief operating officer of UniGroup.

In his new capacity, Pile will oversee the special products express system, which provides dedicated weekly service for smaller shipments traveling between the top 40 metropolitan areas; the UniGroup distribution center; driver recruiting and training; fleet maintenance; and special products fleet communication.

Pile has more than 20 years experience in the moving and storage industry, including numerous leadership positions. Prior to this appointment, Pile served as the Director of Operations Support for UniGroup. Before that, he served in the safety, fleet resources and fleet support departments of UniGroup.

Pile holds a bachelor’s degree in business from Ball State University, Muncie, Ind., and has served as the Chairman of the American Movers Conference Safety Management Council.
