UNIGROUP, INC. ANNOUNCES SCHOLARSHIP FOUNDATION GRANT RECIPIENTS FOR 2005-2006 |

Twenty-four area students have been chosen to receive college scholarships for the 2005-2006 school year from the UniGroup, Inc. Scholarship Foundation. The awards were announced by UniGroup President Richard H. McClure.
The foundation provides college tuition assistance to children of full-time employees of the Fenton, Mo.-based transportation and relocation services company or one of its operating companies, including household goods movers United Van Lines and Mayflower Transit; Vanliner Insurance Co., a provider of specialized insurance coverages for movers; Trans Advantage, Inc., a seller and leaser of vehicles and movers' equipment; and UniGroup Worldwide, a global management company. Scholarship applications are reviewed and awards made by an outside panel of individuals unrelated to and independent of the Foundation, UniGroup, the UniGroup companies and their employees.
As a result of fundraisers held by UniGroup employees during the year as well as individual and corporate donations, 20 students will each receive a $2,500 scholarship award to be used for studies at an accredited college or university during the coming academic year.
In addition, a special $5,000 scholarship is presented in memory of the late Clyde Springer of Memphis, Tenn., a longtime UniGroup/United Van Lines Board member and treasurer of the corporation from 1985 to 1998. This year's recipient of the Clyde Springer Scholarship is Jenny Goudeau, daughter of John and Kimberly Goudeau. Jenny graduated from Nevada High School, Nevada, Iowa, and is majoring in finance at Iowa State University. Her family resides in Union, Mo.
Another special $5,000 scholarship is presented to honor Maurice Greenblatt, a UniGroup/United Van Lines board member since 1969, chairman of the UniGroup board for 17 years. This year's recipient is Raymond Henderson, Jr., son of Patricia Henderson. Raymond graduated from Oakville Senior High School and is majoring in business administration at Southwest Missouri State University. His family resides in St. Louis, Mo. (63129).
Another special $5,000 scholarship is presented to honor Bob Baer, the UniGroup president for 25 years. This year's recipient is Michael Doyel, Jr., son of Hope and Michael Doyel Sr . Michael graduated from Oakville High School and is majoring in diplomacy/Asian studies at Seton Hall University. His family resides in Oakville, Mo.
The last special $5,000 scholarship was created as a gift from the UniGroup Board of Directors. This year's recipient is Adam Paddock, son of Barbara Paddock. Adam graduated from Eureka High School and will be a civil engineering major at University of Missouri -- Rolla. His family resides in Grover, Mo.
The other UniGroup Scholarship Foundation scholarship recipients for the 2004-2005 academic year are:
- Stefanie Bader, daughter of Rick Bader. Stefanie graduated from Fox High School and is majoring in nursing at Southeast Missouri State. Her family resides in Arnold, Mo.
- Alicia Bleckman, daughter of Sheila and Joseph Bleckman. Alicia will graduate from St. Francis Borgia Regional High School High School and will major in psychology at University of Missouri -- Columbia. Her family resides in Washington, Mo.
- Kathleen Braznell, daughter of Robert Braznell. Kathleenwill graduate from Incarnate Word Academy and will major in nursing at University of Missouri -Columbia . Her family resides in Chesterfield, Mo.
- Heather Budde, daughter of Terri Budde. Heather will graduate from Eureka High School and will major in English literature at Meramec Community College. Her family resides in Eureka, Mo.
- Eric Elders, son of Michele Elders. Eric will graduate from Sainte Genevieve High School and will major in computer science at Southern Illinois University at Carbondale. His family resides in Ste. Genevieve, Mo.
- Heather Gay, daughter of Steve and Cheryl Gay. Heather graduated from Northwest High School and will major in psychology at Meramec Community College. Her family resides in High Ridge, Mo.
- Jaimi Mathias, daughter of Connie Mathias. Jaimi will graduate from Seckman Senior High School and will major in psychology at University of Missouri - St. Louis. Her family resides in Imperial, Mo.
- Tyler Musto, son of Frank and Janie Musto. Tyler will graduate from Parkway South High School and will major in pre-dentistry/biology at University of Missouri -- Kansas City. His family resides in Ballwin, Mo.
- Matthew Nosko, son of Gary and Linda Nosko. Matthew graduated from Layfette High School and is majoring in business finance at University of Missouri -- Columbia. His family resides in Wildwood, Mo.
- Anthony Rodgers, son of Leonard and Sharon Rodgers. Anthony will graduate from Eureka High School and will major in German education at Truman State University. His family resides in Eureka, Mo.
- Kelly Strecker, daughter of Bill and Sue Strecker. Kelly will graduate from St. Pius X High School and will major in marketing at Webster University. Her family resides in Arnold, Mo.
Repeat $2,500 Scholarship Foundation recipients are:
- Carrie April, daughter of Lynn and Mary April. Carrie graduated from Affton Senior High and is study nursing at Maryville University. Her family resides in Affton, Mo.
- Shannon Bahr, daughter of Rick and Sandy Bahr. Shannon graduated from Rockwood Summit High School and will major in elementary education at Central Missouri State University. Her family resides in Fenton, Mo.
- Erin Dailey, daughter of Keith and Kathy Dailey. Erin graduated from Notre Dame High School and is majoring in archaeology at University of Evansville, Evansville, Ind. Her family resides in St. Louis, Mo. (63129).
- Jessica Engle, daughter of Jean Engle. Jessica graduated from Eureka High School and is majoring in music education at Truman State University. Her family resides in Eureka, Mo.
- Alisha Gay, daughter of Steve and Cheryl Gay. Alisha graduated from Northwest High School and is majoring in business administration at Stephens College. Her family resides in High Ridge, Mo.
- Sean Harrison, son of Karen and Kevin Harrison. Sean graduated from Lindbergh High School and is a history major at University of South Florida. His family resides in St. Louis, Mo. (63128).
- Meghan Kemp, daughter of Linda and Jim Kemp. Meghan is a graduate of Pacific High School and is studying nursing at Barnes Jewish College of Nursing and Allied Health . Her family resides in Villa Ridge, Mo.
- Tricia Landes, daughter of John and Kathy Landes. Tricia graduated from Parkway South and is majoring in interior design at Central Missouri State University. Her family resides in Ballwin, Mo.
- Stephanie Revere, daughter of Karen and Steven Revere. Stephanie graduated from Lutheran High School North and is majoring in dietetics at Southwest Missouri State. Her family resides in St. Louis, Mo. (63116).
