UniGroup, Inc.'s Van Lines Gain Market Share Among
National Carriers

ST. LOUIS, Jan. 24, 2005 - According to newly released Department of Transportation (DOT) Bureau of Transportation Statistics, UniGroup Inc.'s two van lines, United Van Lines and Mayflower Transit, now rank number one and three respectively in market share among national van line carriers. This milestone marks the fourth year in a row that the privately-held company has continued to gain market share.

United Van Lines has remained the nation's largest carrier since 1992, holding 30.7% of the market, nearly double the share of North American, the second largest carrier. Mayflower Transit jumped from fifth to third in market share rankings among national carriers, passing both Atlas and Allied van lines, with 11.1% market share. Combined, UniGroup increased its lead over its nearest competitor Sirva, Inc. (which owns Allied and North American) by over 15%.

"We are thrilled that United Van Lines and Mayflower rank as two of the top three carriers in the nation with a combined total of 41.8% market share," said Rich McClure, president and chief operating officer of UniGroup Inc. "The DOT's market share statistics are a testament to our commitment to remain an agent-owned enterprise. Our agents' dedication to serving customers with high-quality, expert moving services is the cornerstone of our success."
