As vice president and co-owner of Syracuse, N.Y.-based United Van Lines agent Delaney Moving & Storage, Juleen Delaney consistently proves that it is possible to have a successful professional career at the same time as making a real, positive difference on the surrounding community and those who live there. At the sixth annual BizEventz Women in Business Awards ceremony on June 8, Delaney received a 2006 Women in Business Award recognizing her impact on the Syracuse community.

“I am fortunate to have so many gifts in my own life that it feels natural for me to give something back to the community,” said Delaney. “I volunteer because I truly enjoy helping others. I never expected an award, so I am honored.”

Whether serving as a member of The Salvation Army of the Syracuse Area Advisory Board for the past seven years or helping individual families in need, Delaney has been a dedicated volunteer. Each year Delaney helps organize and facilitate Dome Donation Day at the Carrier Dome, which involves Delaney Moving & Storage donating time and manpower to drop off and pick up large barrels for the annual canned-food drive, store the full barrels at the agent’s location and then deliver them to Syracuse’s Oncenter Complex for Christmas distribution. She also orchestrates Delaney Moving & Storage’s monthly food deliveries to The Salvation Army’s local food pantry, free of charge.

Delaney leads the efforts of the Christmas Bureau Partners Committee, an ongoing collaborative effort by the Salvation Army, United Way of Central New York and other community partners, to provide more than 2,500 families with food, toys and books during the holidays. Most recently, Delaney played a major role in the successful first annual St. Patrick’s Day Hunger Project, a food drive to benefit the Syracuse Community Network of Hunger Related Agencies, collecting 11,250 pounds of food for people in need. In addition, Delaney volunteers for several local Girl Scout events and other charitable programs in the Syracuse area.

"Juleen Delaney clearly deserves this award because she has had such a positive impact on our organization and several others,” said Delaney’s nominator, Linda Wright, executive director of The Salvation Army of The Syracuse Area. “We can always count on her to put her heart into every project she undertakes.”

In her everyday job, Delaney leads all of the marketing and sales efforts of Delaney Moving & Storage and manages 27 year-round and 50 seasonal employees each year. She was previously listed on “BizEventz 40 Under 40” list of top professionals and has won several moving industry sales awards and helped Delaney Moving & Storage to become United Van Lines’ Agent of the Month.

Delaney attended North London Polytech and Syracuse University. She lives in Syracuse with her husband, co-owner of the company, Art Delaney, and their twin 6-year-old daughters.
