UniGroup, Inc. Announces 24 Scholarship Foundation Grant Recipients for 2007-2008

  

Twenty-four area students have been chosen to receive college scholarships for the 2007-2008 school year from the UniGroup, Inc. Scholarship Foundation. The awards were announced by UniGroup President Richard H. McClure.

The foundation provides college tuition assistance to children of full-time employees of the Fenton, Mo.-based transportation and relocation services company or one of its operating companies, including household goods movers United Van Lines and Mayflower Transit; Vanliner Insurance Co., a provider of specialized insurance coverages for movers; Trans Advantage, Inc., a seller and leaser of vehicles and movers’ equipment; SAM (Store and Move), a portable moving and storage company; and UniGroup Worldwide, a global management company. Scholarship applications are reviewed and awards made by an outside panel of individuals unrelated to and independent of the Foundation, UniGroup, the UniGroup companies and their employees.

As a result of fundraisers held by UniGroup employees during the year as well as individual and corporate donations, 20 students will each receive a $2,500 scholarship award to be used for studies at an accredited college or university during the coming academic year.

In addition, a special $5,000 scholarship is presented in memory of the late Clyde Springer of Memphis, Tenn., a longtime UniGroup/United Van Lines Board member and treasurer of the corporation from 1985 to 1998. This year’s recipient of the Clyde Springer Scholarship is Ray Henderson, Jr., son of Patricia Henderson. Raymond graduated from Oakville Senior High School and is majoring in finance/real estate at Missouri State University. His family resides in St. Louis, Mo. (63129).

Another special $5,000 scholarship is presented to honor Maurice Greenblatt, a UniGroup/United Van Lines board member since 1969, chairman of the UniGroup board for 17 years. This year’s recipient is Christopher Allen, son of Peter and Sandy Allen. Christopher graduated from Northwest High School and is majoring in corporate communications at Southeast Missouri State University. His family resides in High Ridge, Mo. (63049).

Another special $5,000 scholarship is presented to honor Bob Baer, the UniGroup president for 25 years. This year’s recipient is Scott Dintelman, son of Doreen Dintelman. Scott graduated from Gateway Institute of Technology and is majoring in business administration at Truman State University. His family resides in St. Louis, Mo. (63116).

The last special $5,000 scholarship was created as a gift from the UniGroup Board of Directors. This year’s recipient is Garrick Johnson II, son of Garrick and Angela Johnson. Garrick graduated from Hazelwood Central and is majoring in interdisciplinary engineering at University of Missouri -- Rolla. His family resides in Florissant, Mo. (63031).

The other UniGroup Scholarship Foundation scholarship recipients for the 2007-2008 academic year are:

  • Sean Dailey, son of Keith and Kathy Dailey. Sean graduated from DeSmet High School and is majoring in computer science/mathematics at University of Central Missouri. His family resides in St. Louis, Mo. (63129).
  • Kourtney Dempsey, daughter of Timothy and Kristi Dempsey. Kourtney graduated from Rockwood Summit High School and is majoring in nursing at University of Central Missouri. Her family resides in Fenton, Mo. (63026).
  • Dawn Dickison, daughter of Joanne and Bill Dickison. Dawn is a graduate of Northwest High School and is majoring in physical therapy at Missouri State University. Her family resides in Cedar Hill, Mo. (63016).
  • Eric Elders, son of Gary and Michele Elders. Eric is a graduate of Sainte Genevieve High School and is majoring in computer engineering at Southern Illinois University at Carbondale. His family resides in Ste. Genevieve, Mo. (63670).
  • Robert Hansen, son of David and Rita Hansen. Robert is a graduate of Festus High School and is majoring in education at Missouri State University. His family resides in Festus, Mo. (63028).
  • Ryan Harrison, son of Kevin and Karen Harrison. Ryan is a graduate of Lindbergh High School and is majoring in criminal justice and forensic investigation at Lewis University, Romeoville, Ill. His family resides in St. Louis, Mo. (63128).
  • Keri Howe, daughter of Deborah and Jeff Howe. Keri is a graduate of Parkway South and is majoring in business at the University of Missouri – Columbia. Her family resides in Ballwin, Mo. (63021).
  • Jami Kaltenbronn, daughter of Patricia Kissel. Jami is a graduate of Cor Jesu Academy and is majoring in nutrition/pre-physician assistant at St. Louis University. Her family resides in St. Louis, Mo. (63128).
  • Jaimi Mathias, daughter of Allen and Connie Mathias (Payroll). Jaimi is a graduate of Seckman Senior High School and is majoring in psychology at University of Missouri – St. Louis. Her family resides in Imperial, Mo.
  • Tyler Musto, son of Frank and Janie Musto. Tyler is a graduate of Parkway South High School and is majoring in pre-dentistry at University of Missouri -- Kansas City. His family resides in Ballwin, Mo. (63021).
  • Rebecca Newcombe, daughter of Steven and Brenda Newcombe. Rebecca is a graduate of Wentzville Holt High School and is majoring in fisheries and wildlife conservation and forestry at the University of Missouri – Columbia. Her family resides in Wentzville, Mo. (63385).
  • Matthew Nosko, son of Gary and Linda Nosko. Matthew graduated from Layfette High School and is majoring in business at University of Missouri -- Columbia. His family resides in Wildwood, Mo. (63011).
  • Adam Paddock, son of Barb Paddock. Adam graduated from Eureka High School and is majoring in architectural engineering at the University of Missouri – Rolla. His family resides in Grover, Mo. (63040).
  • Jamie Ramacciotti, daughter of Julie and Jeff Ramacciotti. Jamie is a graduate of Cor Jesu Academy and is majoring in marketing and sports event management at George Washington University in Washington, D.C. Her family resides in Chesterfield, Mo. (63017).
  • Anthony Rodgers, son of Leonard and Sharon Rodgers. Anthony is a graduate of Eureka High School and is majoring in music at Truman State University. His family resides in Eureka, Mo. (63025).
  • Jenna Schreiber, daughter of Thomas and Kathleen Schreiber. Jenna is a graduate of Rockwood Summit High School and is majoring in special education at Maryville University. Her family resides in Fenton, Mo. (63026).
  • Thomas Schreiber, Jr., son of Thomas and Kathleen Schreiber. Thomas is a graduate of Rockwood Summit High School and is majoring in computer science at Maryville University. His family resides in Fenton, Mo. (63026).
  • Andrew Simpson, son of Deanna and Mike Simpson. Andrew is a graduate of Parkway South High School and is majoring in accounting at Truman State University. His family resides in Manchester, Mo. (63021).
  • Sean Slattery, son of Susan and Bruce Slattery. Sean is a graduate of Rockwood Summit High School and is majoring in engineering at the University of Missouri – Columbia. His family resides in Fenton, Mo. (63026).
  • Kayla Voege, daughter of Jeffrey and Tammy Voege. Kayla is a graduate of Fox High School and is majoring in speech pathology at Fontbonne University. Her family resides in Fenton, Mo. (63026).
