George Davenport Receives United Van Lines Operations Achievement Award

George Davenport, McCollister’s Transportation Group, Inc., Burlington, N.J., was honored with the United Van Lines’ 2007 Operations Achievement Award at United’s national sales and operation conference, held recently in St. Louis. McCollister’s Transportation Group, Inc. is an agent of the worldwide household goods transportation van line.

The recognition acknowledges excellent individual performance in the field of operations. Only one individual is chosen for the annual award from the employees at the more than 450 domestic United agencies.

Davenport has been in the moving business since his teen years when he worked for his uncle's moving company. While working, he attended Trenton State College and achieved a bachelor’s degree in accounting. Soon after, he drove and worked for a moving and storage agent before joining McCollister's in 1977.

Throughout the years, Davenport has embraced many different responsibilities with McCollister's from operations to information technology to warehousing. Currently, Davenport serves as Senior Vice President of the Northeast region for the McCollister's organization. He has also served on the Board of Directors for the Burlington United Way and co-chaired the American Cancer Society Bike-A-Thon.
