Mesa Systems Donates Space, Time and Care to Help Our Troops with Hearts Across the Miles
Mesa employees help provide care packages to troops overseas

DENVER – With a mission of making sure no service member comes away from mail call feeling forgotten, Hearts Across the Miles needs lots of space, donations and volunteers to keep going. Helping to provide all three is Mesa Systems, Inc., an agent of United Van Lines.

While most of America is enjoying a lazy Saturday, volunteers are hard at work in Mesa’s warehouse putting together care packages for deployed service members and their families.

The organization collects useful items ranging from books and games to personal items and calling cards and stores them in Mesa’s warehouse. Volunteers from the community and from Mesa Systems deliver and inventory the goods weekly, then every few months, the group gets together and packs boxes for shipment to troops overseas.

“We are very proud to be able to do our part to support this extremely worthwhile cause,” said Rene Simard, Mesa Systems’ assistant general manager. “It’s a wonderful opportunity to give back to those who sacrifice so much for all of us!”

The warehouse space is provided free of charge, and Mesa employees volunteer to help out of personal dedication to the cause. On Hearts Across the Miles’ April 14 packing day, Mesa employee Lissa Hynes Baird even prepared snacks for all the volunteers!

“We are all so grateful for the support Mesa Systems has given to our organization,” said co-founder Brian Webster, who leads Hearts Across the Miles with his wife, Theresa. “All the employees are so enthusiastic about helping our volunteers. We are blessed to have the backing of such a wonderful group of people!”
