Behind the Scenes of the MS Bike Ride:
Security Storage Company Donates Transportation Support
United Van Lines agent provides logistics assistance

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Preparing to accommodate the needs of more than 750 cyclists during the 25th Anniversary MS Bike Ride held by the National Capital Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Society is no easy task. With cyclists covering 25-, 60-, 100- or 140-mile distances on May 19 and 20, Security Storage Company of Washington stepped up to provide the National MS Society with logistics support transporting supplies, water bottles, snacks, tables and other necessities to designated rest stops along the course.

Seven United Van Lines trucks and one luggage truck will be packed up and driven to various rest stops throughout Northern Virginia, including the overnight location in Leesburg, Va. “Since we’ve been in the moving business for 117 years, it seemed appropriate that we offer transportation support to this worthy cause,” said Chuck Lawrence, president, Security Storage Company. “The National MS Society does incredible work across the country and we’re happy to be a part of their efforts.”

Security Storage Company has been active in the D.C. area and surrounding communities since it began operating in 1890. Security has supported the National Capital Chapter of the National MS Society since 2000. In addition to providing assistance at the MS Bike Ride, Security also supports the MS Walk in April, the Ambassador’s Ball and the 50-mile MS Challenge Walk in September. Whether through sponsorship, board level involvement, or transportation and storage services donated in-kind, Security maintains a high level of commitment to each organization with which it becomes involved.

“Security Storage is very important to the success of our special events, like the 25th Anniversary MS Bike Ride,” said J. Christopher Broullire, president of the National Capital Chapter. “We couldn’t do it without them! This helps us to raise funds for research and to give direct financial assistance to people living with MS. We’re very lucky to have great friends like Chuck Lawrence and his team in our fight against MS.”
