Mesa Systems Helps American Troops and Iraqi Citizens
Salt Lake City-based United Van Lines agent answers request for assistance

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Mesa Systems, Inc., an agent for United Van Lines, partnered with Operation Give to provide supplies to American soldiers overseas, as well as to the citizens of Iraq and Afghanistan that those soldiers are protecting.

Operation Give is an organization that supplies humanitarian aid to civilians in combat zones while at the same time providing for United States military personnel in those affected areas. Paul Holten founded Operation Give five years ago after serving with the Utah National Guard in Iraq.

“I wanted to help a child who was crying, and handed the little girl a stuffed monkey. And it was at that moment that I realized that I could do something to make a difference,” Holten said of his inspiration to found Operation Give.

While Operation Give collects the supplies, Mesa Systems provides the storage space and manpower to ship the goods overseas. Mesa is currently working to send a 40-foot ocean container of supplies to Afghanistan, the 65th container sent since Operation Give began.

“The stress of leaving family and loved ones behind, especially during a time of war takes a toll on a soldier and their family,” said Kevin Head, president and CEO of Mesa Systems. “Having several people in my organization that have loved ones fighting the war against terrorism, I see the personal sacrifice they make in order for the rest of us to enjoy the personal liberties we have while we sleep in our own beds. This personal sacrifice compels me as an American to do what I can to help those who put themselves in harms way daily to protect my family. Freedom is not ‘free.’ I thank God for the soldiers and their loved ones for making America and the world a safer, better place.”
