A-Mrazek Moving Systems Teams Up with Marines for Mardi Gras Parade Celebration
St. Louis-based United Van Lines agent donates tractor, trailer and drivers

ST. LOUIS – A-Mrazek Moving Systems, an agent for United Van Lines, and the Marine Corps League’s South St. Louis Marines Detachment are joining forces to participate in the St. Louis Mardi Gras Lumiere Place Grand Parade being held Feb. 2.

“A-Mrazek's Marines” is the name of the combined-group krewe, and the 2008 parade marks the second for this krewe. To make the float possible, A-Mrazek has donated the use of a tractor and a flatbed trailer. Calling upon their professional skills, two drivers from the moving company will operate the float. The parade’s theme is Let the Games Begin,” and the A-Mrazek float’s theme is “Where in the World is Wally," who is the older brother of Waldo of “Where’s Waldo” fame.

The trailer will be decorated at A-Mrazek’s location in Kirkwood, Mo. The float requires specific design factors and A-Mrazek team members will oversee the construction.

Along with the Marine Corps League, volunteers from A-Mrazek will serve as "walkers" behind the float, wheel walkers along side the float and bead-throwers on the float. The Mardi Gras Lumiere Place Grand Parade is an annual community event and features floats, marching bands, colorful masks and costumes as it travels from Downtown St. Louis through the historic Soulard neighborhood. In addition to the parade, the Mardi Gras festivities consist of events including a tasting of the fare from local restaurants and a pet parade.

The South St. Louis Marines Detachment is the largest unit of it’s type in Missouri and serves the community through a variety of not-for-profit services with particular emphasis on serving Marines and veterans.
