Fry-Wagner Moving & Storage Moves Wildlife Museum for Bass Pro Shops

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Caribou, sharks and a long-extinct Planes Elk skull were among more than 25,000 square feet of museum wildlife exhibits recently moved by Fry-Wagner Moving & Storage, an agent for St. Louis-based United Van Lines, for the Bass Pro Shops Wildlife Museum. The museum relocation involved more than 900 taxidermy animals and was carried off without a hitch by 14 Fry-Wagner team members over 27 days.

The Bass Pro Shops Wildlife Museum exhibits required specialized care and handling during the move because of their extraordinary shapes, sizes and delicacy. Among the more interesting relocated exhibits were more than 300 buck mounts, including nearly 90 that are King of Buck World Record White Tail Deer; the 500 to 1,000-year-old Planes Elk skull; and a replica of the largest shark ever caught on rod and reel, measuring 18 feet, eight inches. This was Fry-Wagner’s second opportunity to relocate the shark, as the agency was contracted years ago to move the replica to Missouri from its original home in Florida.

“What’s the most unique item in the museum?” asked John Hernandez, an employee of Bass Pro Shops who worked with Fry-Wagner to organize the museum move. “The museum itself and what it did for the people and the community.”

Exhibits for the Bass Pro Shops Wildlife Museum have been carefully gathered since 1988, and the museum opened its doors to the public in 1998. With the help of Hernandez and Bass Pro Shops employee Terry Snowden, the museum has continued to grow over the years with educational programs and traveling exhibits.

Fry-Wagner Moving & Storage proudly moved the museum and its extraordinary contents claim-free.
