A.C. WHITE JOINS PARTNERSHIP TO PROMOTE AIR QUALITY
|
|
| ATLANTA, Ga. - A.C. White Moving Systems, an agent for United Van Lines, has joined a movement that promotes cleaner air in communities across Georgia. Through A.C. White’s new partnership with The Clean Air Campaign, the agency is proving that small changes can make an incredible difference in the air we breathe and the roads we travel. |
| |
The link between vehicle transportation and air quality in metro Atlanta is impor¬tant; as much as half of the emissions that create smog come from the tailpipes of cars and trucks. With assistance from The Clean Air Campaign’s local support team, one of the goals of A.C. White’s green pro¬gram is to encourage employees working at the Atlanta facility to use alternatives while commuting such as carpooling, rid¬ing public transit, working a compressed work week or working from home.
|
| |
In addition, A.C. White runs a shuttle between its facility and a nearby transit station to encourage employees to use public transportation. These clean com¬mute options all contribute to better air quality by reducing the number of cars on the road.
|
| |
| The company is also developing a formal no-idling policy for its fleet of trucks and vans in an effort to reduce unnecessary diesel engine idling, which can waste up to a gallon of fuel every hour and produce exhaust emissions that are hazardous. |
| |
| “Our employees want to be part of some¬thing positive for the environment,” said Mina Price, business development man¬ager at A.C. White. “Developing our green program has helped reduce vehicle traffic around our facility and is an important step in curbing air pollution.” Price added that as the program grows, A.C. White will explore ways to introduce versions of it at the agency’s other locations in Georgia. |
