HUMBOLDT STORAGE AND MOVING PRESENTS
CITIZEN STRESS RELIEVER AWARD

First-ever award presented to director of Clarke School for the Deaf

CANTON, Mass. – Humboldt Storage and Moving, greater Boston’s oldest moving company and an agent for United Van Lines, recently announced the company’s first-ever Citizen Stress Reliever Award winner. The inaugural winner is Cara Jordan, director at the Clarke School for the Deaf in Canton, Mass. Jordan’s complete story and nomination can be found on Humboldt’s blog: www.movingcompanyblog.com. Jordon was chosen by a public vote on the site.

James Sullivan, president of Humboldt, presented the award, including a certificate for a day at a local spa for two, on May 20 at the Clarke School. Sullivan also brought an 18-wheeler moving truck for Jordan’s students to explore and learn about. This experience will provide the three- to six-year-olds with a new context for learning language in a fun and hands-on way.

Jordan is the school director at Clarke School East, one of five programs of Clarke School for the Deaf, headquartered in Northampton, Mass. She single-handily launched the Boston area program in 1995, working out of her car for a period of time to get the school established. She has helped countless families during her career adapt to the challenges of hearing loss and still to this day, has the passion and energy to help children succeed in the speaking world.

“I’m extremely proud of Cara’s work. She runs a top notch school that has changed the lives of many families not only in the Boston area, but also Rhode Island, New Hampshire and Maine. Every day Cara and her staff help deaf children reach their full potential,” said Clarke President Bill Corwin.

“Our employees want to be part of some¬thing positive for the environment,” said Mina Price, business development man¬ager at A.C. White. “Developing our green program has helped reduce vehicle traffic around our facility and is an important step in curbing air pollution.” Price added that as the program grows, A.C. White will explore ways to introduce versions of it at the agency’s other locations in Georgia.
