CROWN WORLDWIDE MOVING & STORAGE PARTNERS WITH SAN LEANDRO POLICE DEPARTMENT TO HONOR FALLEN LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS

Local United Van Lines agent donates moving services for the Police Unity Tour

SAN LEANDRO, Calif. – Jeff Agraviador, a traffic officer with the San Leandro Police Department, knew that he wanted to participate in this year’s Police Unity Tour, a tour that travels from Florham Park, N.J., to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington, D.C., and honors the hundreds of law enforcement officers that are killed in the line of duty each year. But he was challenged with finding a way to transport his motorcycle from California to New Jersey.

Crown Worldwide Moving & Storage offered to donate its moving services to transport Officer Agraviador’s motorcycle. The motorcycle will travel to and from New Jersey in a special crate customized by Crown Worldwide. This year’s Police Unity Tour is particularly significant for the San Leandro Police Department in the wake of the recent killing of four Oakland police officers.

The public is invited to attend a ceremony where the customized crate will be unveiled and presented to Officer Agraviador. The ceremony will be held on April 24 at 10 a.m., at the Crown Worldwide warehouse, 2070 Burroughs Avenue in San Leandro.

“This year’s Police Unity Tour holds a very special meaning for our community,” said Rick Hosea, president of Crown Worldwide Moving & Storage. “We are humbled to serve Officer Agraviador and the San Leandro Police Department by supporting the tour and honoring our fallen officers.”

“After 26 years with the San Leandro Police Department, and with only eight months before my retirement, this is a heck of a way to finish my law enforcement career,” said Officer Agraviador.

The Police Unity Tour was organized by Officer Patrick P. Montuore of the Florham Park Police Department in May 1997. That year, the tour included only 18 riders and raised $18,000 for the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund. Last year, the tour had more than 1,100 participants from across the United States and raised more than $1.25 million for the fund.
