ST. LOUIS – UniGroup, Inc., the parent company of United, Mayflower and other transportation-related and moving services companies, is proud to participate in the Missouri Department of Transportation’s (MODOT) Operation Orange effort to promote work zone safety.
Companies across Missouri are posting safety messages and lighting their buildings orange to raise awareness for work zone safety and honor fallen workers during Work Zone Awareness week April 19-23.
UniGroup’s marquee along I-44 in Fenton, Mo. has rotating messages designed to communicate the importance of work zone safety. Additionally, signs that say "Work Zone Safety Awareness...Drive Smart to Arrive Alive," are displayed throughout UniGroup’s campus.
Too many MoDOT employees can tell harrowing stories of near misses in work zones and accidents that left them in the ditch, on top of their truck or in the hospital. One message these workers have for Missouri motorists is: "When you see orange signs, they are there for a reason - Slow down and be alert."
As highway construction gears up in the warmer weather, MoDOT is working to prevent work zone accidents by reminding motorists, "Don't Barrel Through Work Zones."
