What Makes a Best-In-Class Mover and Move Experience?
Moving is a big milestone that requires careful planning, so it’s always a good idea to research the best moving companies by finding out about the quality and reliability of the services they offer. While you can no-doubt find many independent surveys and numbered lists online – and we encourage you to do so – it really comes down to which moving company has the ideal mix of capabilities, service excellence and reputation with which you feel most comfortable.
Finding the best moving company to provide a seamless, low-stress move experience can be a challenge. Whatever moving company you choose, you want to be completely sure they’re able to provide exactly the moving services you want at a price you can afford.

Frequently Asked Questions about Moving
How Do I Choose the Right Moving Company?
Moving can be complicated, but, with a little research and planning, you can avoid moving scams, choose the right mover and eliminate much of the stress associated with a long-distance move. This includes checking business credentials, gathering moving cost estimates and verifying the mover’s legitimacy.
Tips to Choose the Right Mover
How Much Does It Cost to Move With United Van Lines?
Many factors will impact the cost of your move, including the distance and size of the move, your move date, and the specific services you want. Also be aware that weight, not volume, is a key cost factor with the majority of moves. Our best advice is to get a no-obligation moving quote with us once you have your move date in mind.
Is United Van Lines a Broker?
In a word, “no.” A moving broker is a company that, for compensation, arranges for the transportation of your things by connecting you with for-hire carriers so you can hire them to perform the actual moving work. In other words, moving brokers are essentially “middle-person” sales teams that aren’t licensed to perform moves and do not take legal responsibility for your move; instead, they simply help you book your move with an actual moving company. Although brokers for interstate moves are required to be FMCSA-licensed as “Household Goods Brokers” and contract with/exclusively connect you with FMCSA-registered movers, they take no real responsibility to you for your move so if they are unable to connect you with a moving company, you can be left without help on your move day.
By contrast, United Van Lines has more than 90 years of experience, specifically in the moving industry. We are a licensed, full-service moving company that takes responsibility for providing moving services for your relocation under our FMCSA authority through our network of agents across the country.
