Shayne Poehnelt of Reynolds Transfer and Storage Wins United Van Lines Van Operator of the Year
ST. LOUIS – (March 25, 2022) – Shayne Poehnelt, of Reynolds Transfer and Storage out of Madison, Wisconsin, was awarded United Van Lines’ Household Goods Van Operator of the Year Award for the east region. The award recognizes Poehnelt’s outstanding performance in the areas of customer service and safety. United Van Lines President and CEO Jason Mills along with Chairman of the Board of Directors Charles W. McDaniel presented the award at the Company’s recent Learning Conference held in St. Louis.
In his 25 years in the industry, Poehnelt has driven more than 1.5 million miles. Poehnelt grew up in the industry riding in the cab with his mother and father. He believes he didn’t choose this career; it chose him. He mentions you can have fun on the job while getting things done, and that puts the customer at ease.
“We are moving their memories, past life, for them to carry on with a future life in a new place,” Poehnelt said. “It is a big deal to do the job correctly.”

There are more than 3,500 drivers in the United Van Lines system, and Poehnelt was one of three winners this year. The van operator of the year award began in the late 1970s to recognize the men and women who sacrifice so much for a life on the road and who help other families through one of the most stressful times in their lives.
