United Van Lines Adds Handled to Suite of Services to Enhance Customer Moving Experience

Moving technology startup Handled now wholly owned subsidiary of UniGroup, parent company of United Van Lines.

ST. LOUIS — March 10, 2021 — United Van Lines, America’s largest mover of household goods, announced today Handled, a technology-enabled home services booking platform designed to solve local relocation challenges with a concierge approach, is now a wholly-owned subsidiary of United Van Lines’ parent company UniGroup. Handled’s innovative, technology-powered and people-centered offerings will join United as part of UniGroup’s family of brands.

Since its launch in 2018, Handled has provided nearly 2,000 customers a digital platform for finding, booking, and managing vetted local moving and home services in 95 cities nationwide. Handled’s proprietary technology has powered local move and home services bookings with more than 100 local moving companies who also conduct interstate moves within the trusted, secure United Van Lines network.

Supported by AI and machine learning technology, Handled’s instant, guaranteed pricing, automatic home inventory app and personalized concierge capabilities replaced the lengthy to-do lists and uncertainty of the moving process with one simplified, integrated transaction — all at the touch of a smartphone.

Bringing Handled into our family is part of United Van Lines’ commitment to enhancing every customer’s overall moving experience, including before, during and after a move.

Handled has been a successful disruptor in the market, helping us to uniquely meet the needs of today’s customers through speed to quote, increased communication, visibility and transparency, anytime access and concierge capabilities. We look forward to this next chapter for our company and our customers.

Marc Rogers, United Van Lines President and CEO

Handled’s success, the greater consumer shift to digital and the evolving COVID environment creating a preference for remote access to quality services drove the decision to bring Handled’s resources and visionary purpose — helping the world feel at home — in-house to complement UniGroup’s existing services and family of brands.

With the innovative customer experience technology of Handled being made available for United Van Lines nationwide network of agents in 2021, families in the throes of a local move will have greater access to the digital tools now requisite for safe, easy and personalized moving experiences.

Signaling United Van Lines’ commitment to investing in digital innovation, Handled utilizes technology at every step of the moving process to create one seamless transaction for all customer needs.

As we move forward, we will continue to refine the digital sales experience to benefit United Van Lines interstate moving agents, providing helpful, innovative technology at the local level and giving them an edge to compete with others in the market.
